India-Nepal relationship is an important element of India’s Neighbourhood First policy, as the two countries enjoy close historical and cultural ties which are sustained by an open border, the only such mechanism in South Asia.
New Delhi and Kathmandu have embraced the idea of ‘shared prosperity’ which opens many avenues for future cooperation between the two countries, although challenges persist and need to be addressed.
