Dmitri Trenin

Dmitri Trenin is a Research Professor at the Higher School of Economics and a Leading Research Fellow at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO) in Moscow. From 2008-2022 he was Director of the Carnegie Moscow Center which he joined in 1994. Prior to that, Trenin had a 21 year-long career in the Soviet/Russian military. He is the author of a dozen books on Eurasian geopolitics, including A New Balance of Power: Russia is Search of a Foreign Policy Equilibrium (2021); Russia and the World in the 21 st Century (2015), both in Russian - and, in English, Russia – a concise history of the country since 1900 (2020); What Is Russia Up to in the Middle East (2018); Should We Fear Russia? (2017), all published by Polity Press in the UK; Post-Imperium: A Eurasian Story (2011), which was published in the U.S. and translated into Japanese and Chinese, as well as into Russian. He was born and lives in Moscow.
