Dr Imtiaz Ahmed

Dr. Imtiaz Ahmed is the Executive Director of the Centre for Alternatives, Bangladesh, and a retired Professor of International Relations at the University of Dhaka. He is also a Visiting Professor at Taylor’s University, Malaysia. He has authored, co-authored, and edited 55 books and 20 monographs, and he has published more than 125 research papers in leading national and international journals and edited volumes. His recent publications are the following books: Rights, Rivers, and the Quest for Water Commons: The Case of Bangladesh (Berlin, 2021); Rohingyas in Myanmar and Bangladesh: The Violence-Protection Dialectic and the Narratives of Certain Unsafety/Uncertain Safety, co-authored with Niloy Ranjan Biswas (Dhaka and London, 2022); Imagining Post-Covid Education Futures, edited (Dhaka, 2023); Celebrating 100 Years of the University of Dhaka: Reflections from Alumni – National and International, in 7 Volumes, edited (Dhaka, 2023); and Violent Extremism in Bangladesh: A Reader in 5 Volumes, co-edited with Monirul Islam (Dhaka, 2022-2024).
